I am in favor of holding brokers and insurance sales forces to a fiducuary standard. The financial companies have shown their disdain for ethics and well being of their smaller clients for decades. Perhaps this will show them that their money spent on lobbying can only go so far.
For the smaller investor, it will help to know that the person recommending a certain investment has the client's best interest in mind.
