In 2000, I like many of my fellow investors lost a considerable amount of our retirement funds with the help of many brokers, investment advisors and the like from some of the largest investment companies. Back then, I was under the impression from my advisor that my best interest was his main goal and not his firm. I believed him. After he lost 75 % of my funds, he wished me good luck and went on his way as I transfered my remaining funds to another firm.
My point is that any and all financial representatives or whatever title they use, should have a responsibility to their clients first no questions asked. But the fact that you allow such firms to exist without mandatory financial responsibility to their clients and are even considering anything else, tells me that your interest in protecting the public is not your primary focus.
Do your job and protect the public, not your special interests.
