I hold a Series 6 license and the vast majority of my investment clients are families with limited assets who want to grow funds for college or are self employed and want to prepare for retirement. They could not afford a fee based advisor and could not participate in the market.

I have to meet different compliance requirements through my broker dealer annually and maintain expensive "Errors Omissions" insurance. In my 22 years as a registered representative, I have NEVER had a complaint filed against me and have a very loyal client base.

With the liabilities of additional fiduciary requirements in terms of costs and lost production time, I would close up my business.
