I am a financial representative with 10 years experience. I do not believe the new fiduciary standard that could be imposed on broker-dealers and registered representative will improve investor protection. With every application I take there currently is an enormous amount of review, suitability questions, disclosure and analysis before an investor will move forward with a proposal. I work with a lot of young families who can only start small. Adding an extra layer of regulation does not seem like a good idea now in a poor economic climate increasing costs and further discouraging investors.
