I am a hardworking, civil servant who no longer has the Holy Grail big pension, to support a family when I retire. I now need to manage my own money in a 401k and an IRA. Just like when I hire an accountant, please make all financial advisers have the same fiduciary responsibility that an accountant would have. My financial adviser should only have my best interest in mind. I now see hundreds of ads for advisers, but I have no idea if they have potential conflicts of interest, is their advice going to help my bottom line or the advisers bottom line?
.
P l e a s e help with regulating financial adviser. I am not capable of managing my own retirement account, or even know who to go to when I need financial advice. I dont know that advisers employed by brokers are not generally required to make recommendations in my best financial interests.
