I believe the suitability standard works best for protecting and educating consumers on the financial decisions they make. My clients either will not or cannot afford to pay a fee for the planning services of a fiduciary. If that is the standard that all financial professionals will be held to, I will have to seriously consider finding a new line of work.

The financial services industry is regulated enough. Emphasis should be placed on enforcing the rules already in place rather than adding even more regulation that clients won't understand. Focus more time on investigating reported problems than overhauling the entire system.
