It is Time to set the standard for professionals in this business. If you have the word " advisor, consultant, or planner in your job description, you should already be practicing a strict fiduciary standard. We are always to be doing what is in the client's best interest

I believe a true separation between job descriptions is the way for clients to differentiate between true qualified planners and the rest of the industry. The CFP and CLU/ChFC designations should be required before the words "advisor, consultant ,or planner are allowed to be used. There is no requirement of any kind outside of havng an insurance license and a series 6 securoties license at this time. Limiting the job descriptions to registered Rep. or insurance counselor would create a clear and easy way for the public to know what services they are receiving.
