Those who are no more than sales personnel should not be allowed to describe themselves as planners or advisors. If they wish to do so they should be held to the fiduciary standard as Registered Investments Advisors are. Otherwise, let them call themselves brokers, dealers, insurance salespeople-which is what they are.
