CCOutreach ProgramThe SEC’s CCOutreach program, sponsored jointly by the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations and the Division of Investment Management, is designed to enable the Commission and its staff to better communicate and coordinate with mutual fund and investment adviser Chief Compliance Officers (“CCOs”). The program features a number of elements. First, the examination staff regularly hosts a series of Regional Seminars at various locations throughout the country at which CCOs can learn the “nuts and bolts” of the examination process and about the Commission staff and resources available to them. The Regional Seminars serve as a lead-up to a CCOutreach National Seminar, which features panel discussions with SEC staff and CCO representatives to address many of the questions and concerns raised by CCOs at the Regional Seminars and elsewhere. In addition to the National and Regional Seminars, a periodic newsletter issued by the staff, the “CCObserver,” serves to communicate directly with CCOs about issues of interest – including new rules, interpretive releases, recent examination findings, relevant enforcement actions and more. As part of the CCOutreach program, the staff also communicates with CCOs about emerging issues through “compliance alerts” e-mails to inform them of matters that may require urgent attention. For additional information about the CCOutreach Program, see Speech by SEC Chairman: Remarks Before the ICI Mutual Fund and Investment Management Conference, March 14, 2005. Seminars
