Item 7.01.  Regulation FD Disclosure.

     On September 23, 2005, Conseco, Inc. (the "Company") announced that it has
entered into a strategic alliance with Coventry Health Care to offer the new
Medicare Part D prescription drug plan to its policyholders and consumers on a
nationwide basis. A copy of the Company's press release is filed as Exhibit 99.1
to this Current Report on Form 8-K.
