Explanation of Responses:

1. Exercise occurrred at the direction and for the benefit of the insider's former spouse and therefore did not result in an acquisition of beneficial ownership by the insider.

2. Since the date of the reporting person's last ownership report, reporting person transferred 47,207 shares of GT Advanced Technologies Inc. common stock to his ex-wife pursuant to a domestic relations order. The reporting person no longer reports as beneficially owned any secuirties owned by his ex-wife.
