Video Message from Gary Gensler: National Entrepreneurship Month

Hello! I’m Gary Gensler.

November is National Entrepreneurship Month, a time for us to celebrate entrepreneurs and their critical role in our economy.

My dad was an entrepreneur. He started and ran a small vending machine business in Baltimore.

America’s entrepreneurs are a core part of our economic foundation. That’s why I’ve long believed that all businesses, from the smallest startups to growing companies, deserve access to our capital markets to fund their entrepreneurial ideas and create jobs, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or geography.

In my dad’s case, he used his mustering-out pay from World War II to buy used vending machines, fix them up, and build the family business. Today – who knows? – he might have used equity crowdfunding platforms, though of course my daughters would’ve had to set up his account and do all his marketing for him.

Our Small Business Advocacy Office recently launched a new, interactive capital-raising navigator to make pathways to raising capital more accessible to more entrepreneurs.

The navigator provides helpful insights about how to raise capital based on your specific needs.

So, if you’re trying to start or grow a business, I encourage you to explore these new resources. Good luck!
